Eureka Lake provides abundant opportunities for recreation. Boating, fishing, skiing, camping and swimming are available to the public.
There is a heated dock for fishing during the winter months when its cold. There is a handicap accessible dock located on the North shore next to a public shelter house. A public restroom can be found at the South boat ramp area next to the swimming beach. A city boating permit is required if you are engaged in any activity other than fishing. If you are ONLY fishing, you do not need a city boating permit as the city participates in the CFAP program with the State of Kansas. This program provides a grant program that gives us fish feeders and stocked fish. Of course a valid state boat permit is always required.
There are several fishing tournaments hosted at Eureka Lake each year that are well attended. One of the best that is also locally sponsored is the Tree Shakin’ Showdown tournament. This includes an all you can eat catfish dinner made from the catch. Proceeds are put towards a school scholarship and a grant for children in need.

Kansas Wildlife and Parks information about Lake Eureka
Its Fun, But Please Be Careful
Eureka Lake is a public use area with many outdoor places open to the public. It has some beautiful scenery but there are also areas where it would be easy to be injured. The falls area is a popular spot but it has areas with rock ledges that are over 30 to 40 ft in elevation with the landing at the bottom on jagged rocks. We often see children standing a little to close to the edge for our comfort and would like to ask parents to watch them closely.
Eureka Lake also has one of the best crops of Poison Ivy that ever grew on the planet. A person can’t walk 5ft in the woods without encountering the noxious weed.
